APM Ad Show

The much anticipated 11th batch’s APM Ad show was successfully completed on 17th July 2018 on SOMTU premises. Even though the program was scheduled at 1 pm, the students had assembled around at around 11 am to ensure the smoothness of the program. One could easily feel the ongoing tempo and enthusiasm regarding the program, some students were seen in completing their ambient media projects while a bunch of students were seen within the premises wearing same shirt which gave an impactful social message..
The program officially started at 1:15 in presence of Prof. Dr. Mahananda Chalise, Director of SOMTU, and Mr. Birat Pd. Shrestha, facilitator of Advertisement and Promotion Management along with other audience who had gathered to watch and support the advertisements.
The first advertisement was of a consumer good, Fevicol, the ultimate adhesive that had the theme of “Get Stuck or Get Out”. The advertisement humorously presented the feature of the product. The storyline is of how a thief gets caught by the help of fevicol, as he gets stuck to the ground with the help of the product. The team members of Team Fevicol were Ashmita Balchaudi, Deepika Joshi, Ranjana Poudel, and Sarju Pradhan who further presented on the various aspects of the advertisement like message theme, creative strategy, ethical issues, advertisement effectiveness testing model, etc. The video advertisement along with print advertisement was presented by the team.

The second advertisement was of a different genre i.e. social advertisement with the theme of “Abuses are NOT always physical”. The advertisement powerfully presented the theme by show casing how a person is exposed to different kinds of abuses other than physical, like verbal abuse, mental abuse and emotional abuse that has far long lasting impact than physical abuse. The advertisement had a prime objective of awareness and attitude shaping that was beautifully presented in video ad, print ad as well as the ambient media i.e. by displaying the message printed in t-shirts. The team members of this social ad were Anisha Pokharel, Bandana Karki, Raj Kamal Shahi and Sushmita Pandey. The team members further explained the relevance of such awareness along with other strategic and technical parts of the advertisements.

The third advertisement presented a fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), i.e. Snickers Candy Bar as their product, which illustrated the theme “Things do not look normal when you’re hungry”. The advertisement had a very concrete and effective message that described the utilitarian aspect of the product, which was indeed presented in a very humorous way. The storyline of the advertisement is of a doctor who sees his patient and nurse as jokers when he was hungry, and normal afterwards. The advertisement had powerful integration among the video advertisement and print advertisement which presented the common theme. The team members of this advertisement are Abrar Ahemad Khan, Adarsha Katuwal, Diksha Sigdel, Pratima Adhikari, Sajani Maharjan and Sahil Bhattarai. They explained on the execution plan and the media model for the advertisement. Further, the ambient media created outside of the event room also added the effectiveness to the advertisement.

The event was wrapped up by thanking Mr. Prasanga Regmi and Mr. Dipesh Bhattarai, who had provided technical support to all the teams. First, Prof. Dr. Mahananda Chalise provided feedback on the advertisements presented, what he liked about them and also pointed out some area of improvements. Similarly, Mr. Birat Pd. Shrestha also provided his feedback and appreciation for the level of hard work that the students had put in the making of the advertisements. Finally, the success of the event was celebrated by cutting the cake. SOMTU expects similar programs in future in order to nurture the creativity of the students and hone their skills to prepare them for the corporate world.
