Session on Digital Marketing

School of Management, Tribhuvan University organised a “Digital Marketing Session” for a group of MBA in Information Technology and MBA in Global Leadership Management students.
The experts shared their experiences about how marketing has taken into digital form. Technology has been shaping new businesses and have been the prime reason for their success. Companies have seen overnight growth because of the squeezed time and space constraint. Leading companies like Uber, Facebook, Alibaba, Airbnb etc. that are technologically driven have grown massively in a very short time span because of the influence of internet.
The experts added that success of company no longer depends on “number of employees” working for the company. The key to success in this digital era is data and extraction of valuable information from those data. The session focused on how the companies need to be more Social, Local and Mobile at the same time.
The experts explained about how digitization have caused disintermediation of classical forms of “middle-men” but have increased numbers of other forms of intermediaries. They also explained about the “ROPO” effect. The experts shared valuable information regarding search page results, traffic handling, ads on internets, click through rates etc. They also share their experiences about the need for re-marketing and use of native advertising to cope up with changing scenarios in digital world.
The session also involved a group discussion session on two award recipient advertisements about how digital marketing skills could be used to make them more efficient. The session ended with a vote of thanks from Deputy Director Dr. Gangaram Biswakarma.
